Cottonwood (or poplar bud) Salve is a powerhouse topical treatment made from the buds of fallen cottonwood tree branches. The buds are harvested at their peak, when they are filled with resinous sap known as Balm of Gilead. The sweet-smelling sticky sap has been used for centuries to treat a variety of skin troubles, from cuts and scrapes to minor burns and bruises. The sap contains a variety of medicinal components, including compounds that kill germs, ease pain, and promote skin regeneration.
It is also an anti-rheumatic, which means it can even help ease sore muscles, joints, and arthritis pain. If there is one thing I recommend everyone keep inn their medicine cabinets - it's this! We affectionately refer to it as magic salve here.
Made in very small batches with just 3 ingredients. Freshly harvested poplar buds, organic cold pressed olive oil, and candellia wax, this vegan friendly salve is a jack of all trades.
